On the diamond: Behind the big bat of Cummins that provided the spark, Clarendon was able to overtake Sanford-Fritch with a dominating bi-district series sweep last week beating the Lady Eagles 8-3 and 17-6. Cummins got things going in the series opener going 2-for-4 with a double and a triple driving in two runs. However, the second game is where the senior left her mark. Cummins feasted on Fritch pitching going 3-for-3 with two homers to add three more RBIs in the blowout.

Cummins, who plays with her twin sister Kennadie, has had a stellar season hitting .584 with 13 homers to go with 60 RBIs and 59 runs scored. She’s added 16 doubles and six triples and has an 8-4 record in the circle with 65 strikeouts.

Coach Brad Elam: “This has been a very special year for us. We have six seniors and it’s fun to watch them get better game-in-and-game-out. Tandie Took a while to get started against Sanford-Fritch last week but like the rest of the team, when she got it rolling it was hard to stop her. She always comes up clutch for us and she did in the Fritch series also.”

Cummins: “This season has been going really well for us. We have a senior heavy team that all plays together, and we’re excited to still be going. It’s been amazing to do this with twin sister, Kennadie. We are the exact same person and love being on the field together. I think my strength this year is my pitching. My hitting is better too, but I’ve really gotten better in the circle.”
