On the court: Gomez is putting together quite the season as the sophomore made quite the statement in big victories against Perryton and Randall. In the victory against Perryton, Gomez went for a game-high 28 points, knocking down seven, 3-pointers on top of four steals, three rebounds and two assists. In a win against Randall, the first for the Lady Whitefaces in 10 years against Randall, Gomez played lights out, pouring in 22 points to go with five boards, five steals and three assists.

On the season, Gomez is averaging 12.5 points a game with five rebounds and five steals. Through district, the sophomore is posting 15.3 points a night.

Head coach Andrew Sanders: “I think Mia is playing with a lot of confidence, and she’s playing at a very high level. The offense runs through her and she makes the team better overall. She takes command of the offense and she is figuring it out every time she steps on the court. Beating Randall was huge for us, and Mia played so great in that win. We just want to keep moving forward and getting better.”

Gomez: “I think we are playing really good as a team. We are all working hard, everything is clicking and we have tremendous chemistry. It meant a lot to beat Randall. We haven’t beaten them in a longtime. We just have to keep striving to get better and use that confidence off a win like that. For myself, I just want to keep improving and be a leader the best I can.”
