On the pitch: The senior center back played a key role to help the Lady Sandies earn a second straight District 3-5A championship with unblemished 8-0-0 record. During two shutouts last week of Randall, 2-0, and Caprock, 3-0, Hooks was a huge factor on both ends with her stellar defense and ability to control the ball. AHS is 19-1-2 overall, and allowed only goal in district play.

Coach Stacy McPherson: “Kenna plays such great defense, and does a tremendous job of always settling our team down. Offensively, she distributes the ball so well, and controls it when she needs to. She has turned into a leader for us. She’s pretty quite, but let’s her game do the work. She’s just a great overall kid, and I’ve loved having her the last three years on varsity.”

Hooks: “It was great for our team to get another district championship. We had to battle through some injuries, but we all stepped up. We have great chemistry, and play well together. We always know where we are on the field. My twin sister was hurt this year, so for the first time I didn’t have her out there with me. That was difficult, but I just did my best to help the team.”
