Anna Hudson, Miami track, Jr.

On the track:

Coach Kerri Dukes: “Anna is such a special talent. People don’t understand what she had to fight through this year just to get to the state meet. She battled through a yearlong injury and didn’t even compete until the district meet. She works extremely hard all the time and not once have we ever had to tell her how to work or how much time to put in. She’s such a great athlete, a great teammate and overall great kid. She brings a lot attention to Miami and gives the community a boost.”

Hudson: It felt good just to be back at state and running. “I’m still not 100 percent. I was probably at 85 percent. At regionals I finally felt good enough where I knew I could open my running a little bit and just let myself go. But I was thrilled I was able to run and defend those gold medals in both of my races. I can’t say thank you enough to the community for always supporting me, and I love representing Miami. We’re a small town and I’m proud to be from here.”
