This was a close contest for all four quarters with the Rebels maintining a slim advantage the entire way. Eventually Tascosa was able to fend off the Plainsman in the fourth quarter to gain the victory.

Jaemon Palacios was a highlight for Tascosa pouring in 16 points with teammate Cam Goodman adding 12.

Amarillo High stays perfect in district beating Lubbock High

Amarillo High didn’t have an issue with a quick trip down to the South Plains getting a lopsided 60-23 win against Lubbock High at the Westerners Gym on Friday night.

The Sandies shook off a slow start but thanks to a strong defensive effort the offense clicked in the second quarter as AHS took a 25-5 halftime time lead.

Zach Brown played extremely well on both ends of the floor. Offensively, Brown paced the Sandies with 19 points. Bristol Von Netzer followed with 10 points for AHS.

The Sandies (14-3) stay atop the early standings of District 3-5A at 3-0. LHS (7-6) is still looking for that first win in district falling to 0-3.

Palo Duro edges Plainview in final seconds

The Palo Duro Dons picked up a go-ahead bucket with 10 seconds remaining that was enough to get by Plainview for a dramatic 55-53 win on the road during a District 3-5A clash Friday night.

With the game tied 53-53 with under 15 seconds to play in the fourth, Palo Duro’s Kyron Brown was able to get to the basket for a layup putting Palo Duro up 55-53 with just under 10 seconds remaining.

This was a huge win for the Dons considering they had to battle back from a seven-point deficit heading into the fourth quarter.

Victor Juarez was lights out for Palo Duro posting a game-high 28 points knocking down four 3-pointers. Aushaun Wilson followed Juarez’s effort with 14 points.

Palo Duro remains undefeated in district with the win at 2-0 and moves to 14-1 overall. Plainview falls to 7-5 overall and 0-3.

In one other 3-5A game, Lubbock-Cooper edged Caprock 68-65 at home Friday.
