Amarillo High stays perfect in district beating Lubbock High

Amarillo High didn’t have an issue with a quick trip down to the South Plains getting a lopsided 60-23 win against Lubbock High at the Westerners Gym on Friday night.

The Sandies shook off a slow start but thanks to a strong defensive effort the offense clicked in the second quarter as AHS took a 25-5 halftime time lead.

Zach Brown played extremely well on both ends of the floor. Offensively, Brown paced the Sandies with 19 points. Bristol Von Netzer followed with 10 points for AHS.

The Sandies (14-3) stay atop the early standings of District 3-5A at 3-0. LHS (7-6) is still looking for that first win in district falling to 0-3.

With the game tied 53-53 with under 15 seconds to play in the fourth, Palo Duro’s Kyron Brown was able to get to the basket for a layup putting Palo Duro up 55-53 with just under 10 seconds remaining.
