25 Years of Coaching Excellence
Andy Cavalier, or “Coach Cav” to his players, has dedicated 25 years to coaching, currently serving as the Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at Canadian High School.
His journey has included stops at Pampa, Tascosa, and Eastland, but it’s at Canadian where he’s truly built his legacy. For Coach Cav, the toughest opponent he’s faced isn’t a team—it’s life itself.
His most memorable moments come not from wins or losses but from the daily opportunities to coach and make an impact.

Fasting, Farming, and Focus
Coach Cav keeps things simple and grounded, much like his personality. He fasts before games, and if he weren’t coaching, he’d likely be farming or ranching—a nod to his love for hard work and the land.
While he jokes that he’s “just not very talented,” his players and community know better.
His favorite piece of advice, “Win without bragging and lose without excuse,” perfectly sums up his approach to competition and character.

Training for Life, Not Just the Game
Coach Cav’s coaching philosophy is deeply rooted in life lessons. He believes, “Your expectations and your effort have to match. In the end, we will get as much out of something as we put in.”
His motto, “Coaching is a way to use a sport to train people for life,” reflects his commitment to helping his athletes grow as individuals.
Whether it’s tackling drills or film study, Coach Cav emphasizes preparation, effort, and accountability. This season, his goals go beyond wins—they’re about using time together to have a positive impact, grow as a team, and compete like champions when challenges arise.
Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future
For Coach Cav, coaching in Canadian is about more than just football—it’s about legacy. He feels privileged to coach in a community where so many great people have come before him.
His goal? To be a “Great Ancestor” who honors the past while inspiring future generations to do the same. With energy drinks in hand and the thoughts in his head as his soundtrack, Coach Cav leads with passion, energy, and care.
At Canadian, it’s not just about the game—it’s about building a culture of respect, hard work, and gratitude.
