Class 5A weekend recap; UIL Region I area round playoff pairings

Amarillo High and Randall are the only two Amarillo-area teams standing after the bidistrict round of the Class 5A bidistrict round.

Amarillo High cruised to a 25-10, 25-14, 25-11, sweep of Lubbock Coronado on Thursday, while Randall had to come-from-behind against Abilene Wylie in five-sets, 18-25, 25-19, 25-19, 18-25, 17-15, on Thursday.

AHS has now won 17 in a row dating back to September, improving to 17-4 overall. Currie Marusak once again was unstoppable against the Lady Mustangs. The junior outside hitter hammered down 22 kills in the victory.

Randall (13-3) had to rally back and win the final two sets. Kiar Parker led the way with 12 kills, and Taylor Irving added 33 digs.

Unfortunately for Tascosa its season came to an end at the hands of Abilene Cooper, 18-25, 23-25, 25-17, 22-25.
