Perryton rallies for a thrilling win over Dalhart
The Perryton Rangers put together a huge second half to erase a 13-point halftime deficit to come-from-behind and leave Dalhart stunned with a thrilling 27-26 victory in the final minutes Friday night at Rangers Stadium.
In the first half it looked as though it wasn’t going to be a happy home opener for Perryton. Dalhart (1-1) jumped out to a 26-13 halftime lead highlighted by a pair of Hunter Trusler touchdown passes to Talon Garcia of 24 and 10 yards.
The second half became a different story in a hurry. On the Rangers (1-1) opening possession, quarterback Cooper Schilling led the offense on a 13-play, 70-plus yard drive resulting in a Schilling 1-yard sneak cutting the deficit 26-20. That remained the score until midway through the fourth quarter. Perryton took over at the seven minute mark and worked a drive inside three minutes when Schilling once again found the endzone giving Perryton its first and only lead at 27-26 with just over two minutes to play.
