On the diamond: The sophomore second baseman came up clutch in a huge way during the Eagles 4-3 walk-off win over West Plains last Thursday. Canyon trailed 3-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh and were down to the last out before Allen tied the game with an RBI double. Moments later, Allen then scored the game-winning run off a Christian McGuire single to give the Eagles the come-from-behind victory.

Allen followed that effort during a 9-4 win against Borger the following day going 1-for-4 with a two-run double. For the two games, Allen was a combined 3-for-5 with three doubles and drove in three RBIs.

Head coach John Doan: “Carson has been playing with a lot of confidence. We see him as a need at the top of the lineup with how he’s playing. He was trying to figure some things out before district but now he’s become a threat any time he’s at the plate. Even though he’s just a sophomore, I knew he could be an everyday guy for us. I think right now he’s just done a good job of taking pressure of himself and having fun playing the game. He has stepped up in big situations already for us.”

Allen: “I feel like we’re playing well as a team right now and we just want to keep getting better to make a playoff run. I feel I’m playing well and hitting the ball a lot better from where I started the year. I have a lot more confidence and I’m mentally better in the box and that has brought me a long way. I just stay positive, and I want to do anything I can for my teammates.”
