Broxton Robinson, Panhandle football, Soph.
On the field: Robinson has done a fantastic job of filling major shoes left by standout Landyn Hack. Last Friday, the sophomore played stellar once again keeping the Panthers unbeaten at 3-0 thanks in part to a 51-13 thumping of Vega.
The dual-threat quarterback decimated the Longhorn defense for 346 combined offensive yards with a total of six touchdowns. Through the air, Robinson went a near perfect 10-of-12 for 187 yards with two touchdowns and piled up 159 yards rushing finding the endzone four more times.
Through the first three games, Robinson has already rushed for 416 yards on 71 carries with nine TDs while going 24-of-37 for 468 yards passing with four more scores.
Coach Dane Ashley: “Our offense is a quarterback driven offense. We run the QB more than most ever do. We’re an option team and Broxton has been phenomenal at the position. He reads everything and what’s great he runs like a fullback and has really improved throwing the ball over the last three weeks. I think the game is slowing down for him and there is a lot of room to grow. I always knew Broxton Robinson was special since he was in elementary school. We never rebuild here at Panhandle; we just try and reload with the next man up. Broxton has been practicing this offense for years and has been in the weight room since sixth grade. So, when Landyn graduated, Broxton was ready to go.”
Robinson: “It’s been going great so far. Filling Landyn’s shoes wasn’t easy and I knew that. Landyn was an amazing player and a great leader. I’m just trying to do my best. I think we’re playing very unselshish as a team and we’re all there for each other. It doesn’t matter who has the stats we just want to win games and compete in the playoffs. My goal is to just keep throwing the ball better and getting the game to slow down and take it one play at a time.”
