Blake Robinson, Dumas football, Sr.
On the field: It was a career outing in more ways than one for Robinson during Dumas’ 83-35 thumping of El Paso Riverside in a UIL Class 4A Division I clash last Friday. Robinson was the primary weapon for quarterback Colton Mills, and a complete mismatch for the Riverside secondary. Robinson finished the game snagging nine catches for 165 yards with a pair of touchdowns, and made an interception on the defensive side.
In the process of that win, Robinson also became the all-time receptions leader with 78 and yards leader with 1,355 for the Demons football program. On the season, Robinson has had a tremendous senior campaign leading the team with 59 catches for 862 yards with nine scores.
Head coach Aaron Dunnam: “Blake is a coaches kid and they are always special to me. He has overcome a lot the last four years. He has broken his collarbone twice and his wrist, so this is his first full season to play. Blake is a high character kid that leaves it all on the field. He’s a leader that does a great job of holding his teammates accountable, which isn’t easy. He brings the locker room together, and he always does his job on the field.”
Robinson: “I think we’ve been playing great and getting a gold ball last week was special for this team. I just try to focus everyday on how I can help this team and doing whatever I can to make us better. It’s bitter-sweet right now, because you love playing in the playoffs, but you know any week can be your last. I’m just doing my best to enjoy every single day with this group of guys and play with confidence.”
