Lance has spent 45 years in Amarillo reporting on sports, including 38 years as a reporter, columnist and sport editor for the Amarillo Globe-News. He is an award-winning writer honored 17 times by The Associated Press and a Heisman Trophy voter. He was voted Lone Star Conference sportswriter of the year, one of two writers in Texas history to twice be presented the prestigious Putt Powell Award by the Texas High School Coaches Association and is the 182nd member of the Panhandle Sports Hall of Fame. Most of all, Lance is excitable and passionate when it comes to telling the stories of athletes and coaches in the Amarillo-area.
