Farwell sweeps season series from Panhandle 

The Farwell Lady Steers made quite the statement while taking a step closer at a district championship by getting a huge 51-31 victory at Panhandle on Tuesday night.

The victory completes the season sweep of the Ettes (22-5) and gives the Lady Blue (25-3) at two-game lead in the District 3-2A standings. Farwell is a perfect 6-0 in district with Panhandle sitting at 4-2. Farwell also clinches a Class 2A spot in the process.

The contest was close with the Lady Blue leading 20-16 at the half. However, Farwell took over in the third quarter outscoring the Ettes 17-8 to go up 37-24. The Lady Blue kept their foot down in the fourth quarter to pull away for the win.

Farwell’s Makylee Baldwin led all scorers with 19 points. Teammate Landri Richey added nine. Evan Shadid scored a team-high nine for Panhandle.

Canyon cruises past West Plains 

The Canyon Lady Eagles used a huge second half to take down a challenging West Plains team 57-30 in a key District 4-4A game on Tuesday night at West Plains High School.

The Lady Wolves came out strong in the first half leading 17-16 at the break. Canyon quickly gut punched the Lady Wolves with a massive third quarter outscoring West Plains 22-3 to go up by a commanding 38-20. The Lady Eagles stayed dominant from there soaring past West Plains on the way to a 27-point victory.

Jaylee Moss was hot from the floor scoring a game-high 15 points to lead Canyon. Teammate Sydnee Winfrey poured in 12. West Plains guard Piper Patterson scored a team-high nine points.

Tuesday’s top performers 

Sophomore guard Tyler Held scored a career high 16 points that not only led the Amarillo High Lady Sandies to a blowout win over Caprock 75-19, but also punched the Lady Sandies (29-4) a ticket to the Class 5A playoffs with a 6-0 district record.

Tascosa’s Avery Carter used her size in the post to put up a game-high 23 points in the Lady Rebels 94-63 win against Plainview.

Hereford picked up a key 46-35 district win against Pampa behind Sam Grajeda’s 17 points.

West Texas A&M commit Braylen Lusby scored a game-high 21 points during Spearman’s 48-26 home victory against Bushland.

Wellington’s Audrey Jones helped the Lady Skyrockets get back in the win column pouring in 15 points in a 68-17 blowout win over Shamrock.

Kimber Wheatley and Reyna Rosales scored all but eight of Follett’s points in a key 40-32 win against 1-1A rival Miami. Wheatley and Rosales each scored 16 points.

Natalia Tarango of Pringle-Morse torched Channing for a game-high 29 points during a 81-13 win.
