Canyon handles Randall in district showdown
In a battle of district unbeatens, Canyon was able to use a big second quarter to run past rival Randall for a 53-38 victory during a District 4-4A clash Tuesday night at the Leslie Broadhurst Gymnasium at Randall High School.
The Lady Eagles stay perfect in district play at 4-0 while moving to 17-2 on the year. Randall suffers its first district loss, dropping to 3-1 and 9-15.
Canyon led 21-15 after one but it was the second quarter when the Lady Eagles defense clamped down, limiting the Lady Raiders to three points to take a 31-18 lead into halftime. Canyon was able to fend off Randall in the second half to get the victory. Tai Wright, Thresa Mode and Gracie Lunsford led a balanced scoring attack with each posting 11. The Lady Raiders saw Kennah Thomas score a game-high 13 points.

Tascosa edges Palo Duro
At a standing room only Tascosa Activity Center, the Tascosa Lady Rebels were able to stay atop the league standings by holding off rival Palo Duro 49-45 in a very competitive District 3-5A matchup Tuesday night.
This game was close throughout with the Lady Rebels able to hold off an upstart Lady Dons team down the stretch. Tascosa (21-2 overall) runs its district record to 6-1. Palo Duro is right in the mix in the district race at 5-2 and 21-6 overall.
Kenzee Dickson led the Lady Rebels with 11 points followed by Devaeh Johnson’s nine. Palo Duro’s Zeinab Dang dropped in a game-high 15 with teammate Braya Smith chipping in 12.
TUESDAY’S TOP PERFORMERS
Zulet Jaramillo of Dumas posted a game 23 points to lead the Demonettes to a District 4-4A win against Borger, 56-49.
Perryton picked up a huge home win downing West Plains 44-33. Payton Schilling did her part for the Rangerettes, scoring a game-high 20 points.
Lubbock-Cooper Liberty’s Abby Dallas tallied a team-best 16 points during the Lady Patriots key District 5-4A road win at Lubbock Estacado, 66-42.
Carli Buckley of Shallowater had the hot-hand by registering 27 points in a 92-25 district victory against Friona.
The Gruver Lady Hounds sent the home crowd home happy thanks to a 71-18 victory over Hansford County rival Spearman. Payton Merkel continues to electrify, torching the Lynxettes for 24 points.
Wellington’s Brynlee Proffitt did damage in the paint to lead the Lady Skyrockets to a hard fought 62-56 win at Clarendon.
Kyleigh Harrison of Booker was stellar on the road, posting a game-high 25 points during the Lady Kiowas 42-23 win against Boys Ranch.
Hale Center’s Maygen Espinoza kept the Lady Owls red-hot during a 65-38 home win against Valley by scoring a game-high 21 points.
Miami freshman Brylee Thompson was the offensive highlight thanks to 19 points that helped the Lady Warriors roll by McLean 63-35.
