Canyon handles Randall in district showdown  

In a battle of district unbeatens, Canyon was able to use a big second quarter to run past rival Randall for a 53-38 victory during a District 4-4A clash Tuesday night at the Leslie Broadhurst Gymnasium at Randall High School.

The Lady Eagles stay perfect in district play at 4-0 while moving to 17-2 on the year. Randall suffers its first district loss, dropping to 3-1 and 9-15.

Canyon led 21-15 after one but it was the second quarter when the Lady Eagles defense clamped down, limiting the Lady Raiders to three points to take a 31-18 lead into halftime. Canyon was able to fend off Randall in the second half to get the victory. Tai Wright, Thresa Mode and Gracie Lunsford led a balanced scoring attack with each posting 11. The Lady Raiders saw Kennah Thomas score a game-high 13 points.
