H.S. Softball roundup: Canyon, Amarillo High close out perfect district seasons

Canyon completed a perfect District 4-4A season off in style taking down Pampa ?? on a gusty Saturday afternoon at the Double Eagle Sports Complex in Canyon.

Canyon exploded in the bottom half of the third with an 8-run inning to take a commanding 8-2 lead.

Lady Eagles catcher Maison Guerra was 2-for-3 with a solo homer. Leadoff hitter Kaylie Davis was 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs, and scored a pair of runs.

Kylie Knowles braved the wind blowing out scattering nine hits, but did strikeout 10 hitters to earn the win.

Canyon (10-0 in district) goes into the playoffs at 22-9. Pampa will be the No. 2-seed ending the regular season 23-7-1, 7-3.

Borger clinched the outright No. 3-seed out of the district by beating Dumas 19-9 at home Friday.

The Lady Bulldogs sweep the Demonettes on the year, finishing the regular season at 13-8 overall and 6-4 in district. Dumas (22-12, 4-6) gets the fourth and final spot in the league.

Natalie Chisum was busy at the plate. Chisum homered, doubled, and had two singles going 4-for-5 driving in seven runs. Teammate Emilee Bridges chipped in with a 3-for-4 day at the dish with three RBIs.

Hereford ended its season on a high-note blanking Perryton 25-0.

Mia Florez had four hits with five RBIs to lead the way. The Lady Whitefaces end the year 11-19-1, 3-7. Perryton finishes at 2-23, 0-10.

District 3-5A

Amarillo High ended District 3-5A play undefeated with a 30-1 run-rule win against rival Tascosa on a gusty Friday afternoon.

AHS ends district a perfect 10-0, and will enter the Class 5A playoffs at 22-11-1.

Tascosa ends its season at 11-19, 2-8.

Danae Lopez and Paris Fox combined for 10 RBis in the victory. Lopez slammed two home runs with five RBIs, and Fox was 2-for-4 with a homer and five runs driven in.

Randall took outright second place sweeping the season series from Caprock. The Lady Raiders doubled up the Lady Longhorns 8-4 on Friday at Caprock.

Randall is the No. 2-seed in district with a 20-11-1 record, finishing league play at 8-2. Caprock will be the No. 3-seed at 16-16, 6-4.

Leah Garcia delivered a 2-run triple, teammate Hope Soria homered and ended the day with two RBIs.

Plainview beat Palo Duro 13-0 on Friday. The Lady Bulldogs (21-13, 4-6) will be the No. 4-seed out of District 3-5A.

District 1-3A

Bushland ended the regular season with a 17-0 shutout over Dalhart on Friday.

The Lady Falcons head to the playoffs as the district champions with a 25-8 overall mark, and 8-1 in District 1-3A. Dalhart (5-17, 2-7) will be the third place team out of the district.

Jillian Howell tossed five innings for a no-hitter racking up 10 strikeout. Howell was also 3-for-4 including a double while driving in three runs. The sister combo o Jaycee and Brylee Adams each homered. Both Jaycee and Brylee were 3-for-4. Jaycee drove in three RBIs, Brylee added a pair of RBIs.

River Road and Canadian will finish the regular season at 4:30 p.m. Monday at River Road.
