TUESDAY’S QUICK HITS

Two District 3-5A matches were suspended due to the severe weather in the city of Amarillo on Tuesday night. Amarillo High vs. Caprock and Lubbock High vs. Palo Duro barely got underway before both games were put on pause. Both matches will assume Wednesday evening. The Lady Westerners and Lady Dons start at 5:30 p.m., while the Lady Sandies and Lady Longhorns pick back up at 6 p.m.

Bushland made it 108 straight district wins with a sweep against Friona on Tuesday night, 25-14, 25-12, 25-8. Berklee Billington provided the power with 16 kills and was clutch on the back row with 11 digs for a double-double and also dished out seven aces. Morgan Eberly sparked the offense with 27 assists.

District play begins for District 1-2A on Saturday. Vega will host West Texas High while defending champion Sanford-Fritch hosts Highland Park.

Some top performers to take a look at Tuesday was definitely Canyon’s Laney Jones. The outstanding senior tallied a double-double with 16 kills and 10 digs to lead the Lady Eagles to a sweep at Pampa. Frenship defeated rival Memorial in four sets behind the play of Reese Roberts and her 18 kills and 13 digs for a double-double, and Chloe Brown once again registered a double-double for Randall in a sweep of Perryton with 16 digs and 13 digs.
