Press Pass Sports talked with Shallowater Mustangs head coach Rodney Vincent during fall workouts. The Mustangs return a combined 12 starters from a district championship team that advanced to the UIL Class 3A Division I area round last season. Vincent talked about the excitement that surrounds his team and the explosive skill players returning that he hopes leads to another successful season.

PLAYERS TO WATCH
Logan Winn, 5-foot-9, 170-pounds, QB-DB, Sr.
Winn makes the transition from an explosive wide out to signal caller following the loss of Cooper Martin to graduation. The Versatile Winn is dangerous at whatever position he’s thrusted into. Winn can make the plays with his arm and is very dangerous in the open field with his speed. If needed, Winn is equally valuable in the kick return game.
Blayce Jeter, 6-foot-2, 195-pounds, OL-LB, Sr.
Coach Vincent is extremely high on his offensive and defensive fronts and it’s easy to see why when you have a player the caliber of Jeter. The District 1-3A Division I Newcomer of the Year will help in the trenches with the run game, but he is much more valuable on the defensive side. A gritty linebacker, Jeter made 120 tackles last season with three sacks.
Truitt Vaughn, 6-foot-2, 235-pounds, OL-DL, Sr.
Complimenting Jeter is Vaughn. At 6-foot-2, 235-pounds, Vaughn fills the hole on the defensive line and is extremely agile. As a junior last year, Vaughn registered a total of 64 tackles to go with two sacks and was a first team All-District selection on both sides of the ball.
