Week 11 brought some huge wins and unbelievable individual performances from athletes across the Texas Panhandle and South Plains. Be sure to take a look at some of those highlight outings from another great Thursday and Friday night.
Cash Wheeler, Perryton, LB, Sr.
The hard-nosed linebacker did everything he could to help Perryton punch a Class 4A Division II playoff ticket in a 43-23 win over Borger. Wheeler was unstoppable, making life miserable for the Bulldog offensive line, finishing the game with 19 total tackles, 10 of those solo tackles, with four for a loss.

Keima’j Barnes, Palo Duro, LB, Sr.
Barnes carried on his tremendous season and was a major factor for why the Palo Duro Dons won their first outright district title in 21 years in a 52-28 win over Abilene Cooper on Thursday. Barnes paced a big night for the Palo Duro defense with 19 tackles, 16 of those solo, four for a loss, and a sack.
Deuce Moore, Lubbock Monterey, RB, Sr.
The Deuce was loose against Caprock in a pivital District 2-5A Division I clash on Thursday night. Moore chewed up the Longhorns during a 34-28 win that sealed up the No. 3-seed for the Plainsman, rushing for a team-high 150 yards on 26 carries with two trips to the endzone.
Kelby Sherwood, West Texas High, RB, Sr.
Sherwood took matters into his own hands during a 52-14 win over Sunray, giving West Texas High its first unbeaten season since 1989. The speedy running back toted the rock 15 times for 226 yards with three touchdowns including a 91-yard scamper for a score.
Garrett Splitt, Randall, DL, Sr.
It was another outstanding performance for the Randall defense in a 14-7 win in the “GOAT” game against rival Canyon. Splitt was quick off the edge and making his presence felt on several occasions making nine tackles with three of those solo and a forced fumble and two pass breakups.
Austin Sluder, Amarillo High, WR, Sr.
Fighting for their playoffs lives, Amarillo High handled rival Tascosa in a big way 63-21 behind a dazzling performance from the senior wideout. Sluder hauled in eight catches on the night for 188 yards with five touchdown receptions, four of those in the first quarter. The five touchdowns also sets a new single game school-record for Sluder.
Bo Davis Lubbock High, RB, Soph.
Davis left it all on the field trying to do his best to get the Westerners in the playoffs on Friday. During a thrilling 42-35 victory against Lubbock Coronado, Davis torched the Mustang defense throughout the four quarters, stacking up 260 yards on only 20 carries with four touchdowns that saw a 94-yard TD.
Mark Haygood, Canadian, LB, Sr.
Canadian is once again the District 1-3A Division II champion with a 49-27 victory at home against Childress. The defense was the story as the Wildcats forced five turnovers. Haygood was excellent on the defensive side for Canadian, racking up 16 tackles, two for a loss, and had a sack.
Cooper Martin, Shallowater, QB, Sr.
The Shallowater gunslinger led his team to a District 1-3A Division I title with a huge road win at Dalhart, 42-34, on Friday. Martin showed his dual-threat ability rushing for 78 yards, but was extremely accurate going 12-of-16 for 259 yards with four touchdown tosses.
Angel Lara, Bovina, RB, Sr.
In a win or go home game Friday, Bovina put the ball in their leaders hands and he didn’t disappoint. Lara was the difference for the Mustangs in a 30-0 blanking against Vega to capture the fourth and final playoff spot in District 1-2A Division II. Defensively, he was in on several key plays, and ran the ball 15 times for 105 yards with a pair of touchdowns on offense.
