Week 8 saw plenty of games making impacts in the district standings involving teams across the Texas Panhandle and South Plains. Check out some of the action that includes Midland Legacy getting by Frenship, Palo Duro edging Lubbock-Cooper and Shamrock sneaking away with an overtime win against Clarendon.

District 2-6A

In one of the wilder games on the Week 8 schedule, Midland Legacy scored a late fourth quarter touchdown to slip by Frenship 45-42 during a key District 2-6A clash at Peoples Bank Stadium in Wolfforth on Friday night.

The loss sends the Tigers to 1-1 in district and 3-4 overall. The Rebels stay unbeaten in the league at 2-0 and are now 3-4 overall.

In a back and forth battle throughout, Frenship led 42-38 in the fourth quarter following a Quaid Ferris 36-yard touchdown run with four minutes to play. Legacy immediately responded on their first play on the ensuing possession getting the game-winning score on a JP Reyes 71-yard bomb pass to Caden Ellis putting the Rebels up for good 45-42 with 3:48 to play.

Reyes finished the night 13-of-28 for 196 yards with two touchdowns both to Ellis, who had 103 yards receiving. Ferris led Frenship with 253 yards passing going 16-of-27 with three touchdowns and receiver Chase Campbell hauled in six catches for 126 yards with two scores.
