For the first time in team history, the Amarillo College volleyball program has a two-time Western Junior Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

Bushland graduate Kaela Neie earned the honor for the second consecutive week, the conference announced on Sept. 3.

The 6-foot outside hitter has proven to be one of the top offensive threats at the NJCAA Division I level through the first two weeks of her Badger career.

Last week, Neie accumulated a four-game school-record 73 kills via a .300 hitting percentage during AC’s road trip to Colorado.

The sophomore currently has the sixth-highest kill total (131) and kills per set rate (4.09) in NJCAA D-I.

Neie was named the WJCAC Volleyball Player of the Week for the first time after her season debut at the NMMI Classic in Roswell New Mexico, Aug. 23-24.

The Badgers are currently on a three-game win streak heading into the Weatherford tournament this upcoming weekend.

Amarillo College accumulated a 3-1 record last week during a three-stop, four-game trip to the Centennial State.

AC defeated Pratt Community College in four sets and Lamar Community College in five sets on Aug. 28 before concluding the four-game swing through in Colorado with a five-set win at Otero College on Aug. 29.
