The victory was a very significant as the Demonettes (26-6 overall) finished 12-2 in the league clinching the outright District 4-4A championship for the first time in five years.

Pampa (14-11) will be the No. 3-seed at 9-5 in district.

Dumas led 3-0 early only to see the Lady Harvesters post four runs in the bottom of the third to go up 4-3 behind a Kassie Arnzen two-run double.

The Demonettes came back with a two-run rally to take the lead in the top of the fifth when Vida Fierro continued her amazing week sending a ball deep to right for a two-run shot that put the Dumas up 5-4.

In the sixth, the Demonettes picked up some much-needed insurance on a Yartiza Vargas two-run blast that pushed the advantage to 7-4.

Fierro, who had two home runs and six RBIs on Tuesday, followed that effort up with a 2-for-2 day hitting another homer with three more RBIs against Pampa.

Vargas complimented Fierro going 2-for-3 with her two-run home run and Star Cortes tossed a complete game allowing four earned runs with seven strikeouts.

West Plains secures second, Canyon, Randall set for play-in game

West Plains wrapped up second place out of District 4-4A by blanking Borger 11-0 on Friday afternoon.

The Lady Wolves (16-15-2) finish district a game behind Dumas at 11-3 in only the program’s second year. Borger ends the season at 12-21, 4-10.

Teagan Beck hit a three-run homer on Friday to lead the Lady Wolves while teammate Jaylen Kapps tossed seven scoreless innings racking up 16 K’s.

Canyon and Randall both won handily to tie for the fourth and final playoff spot at 8-6 in district.

Canyon (17-14) shutout Hereford 13-0 and Randall (18-16) took down Perryton 17-3.

The Lady Raiders and Lady Eagles will now meet in a play-in game for that No. 4-seed on Monday at a time and place to be determined.

District 1-2A

Clarendon claims 1-2A district title

The Clarendon Broncos moved past Sanford-Fritch 4-2 in a very good ball game to win the outright District 1-2A championship at home Friday afternoon.

The Broncos finish the regular season at 26-3-1 and 11-1 in league play. Sanford-Fritch (17-7, 9-2 district) is currently tied with Sunray (14-2) for second place. The Lady Eagles and Lady Bobcats meet Tuesday for the No. 2-seed.

The turning point of Friday’s clash came in the bottom of the fourth inning. With the Lady Broncos leading 2-1, Elyza Rodriguez delivered a two-run double to center field that plated two runs that gave the Lady Broncos breathing room at 4-1.

Pitcher Kennadie Cummings made that lead standup. Not only did she homer early in the game on the offensive side for Clarendon, but Cummings worked all seven innings scattering four hits, tallying nine strikeouts to earn the win.

In another district game on Friday, West Texas High blanked Booker 12-0. The Lady Comanches (9-9-1) will host Gruver for a play-in game on Tuesday.

District 3-5A

Amarillo High, Caprock get wins

Amarillo High ended district play with a perfect record while Caprock earned a lopsided win over Palo Duro to close the regular season on Friday.

The Lady Sandies (25-6) pummeled Plainview 17-1 to finish out 3-5A with an 8-0 record and the No. 1-seed in district. Plainview (8-11) is the No. 3-seed finishing district 4-4.

Caprock knocked off Palo Duro 32-1 on Friday. The Lady Longhorns are 11-9 overall and will be the No. 2-seed at 6-2 in the league.

District 1-3A

Bushland ends district unbeaten

Bushland ended the district season with an unblemished mark after getting another lopsided 22-0 victory against Tulia on Friday.

The Lady Falcons head into the Class 3A playoffs with a 24-4-1 overall record after going 10-0 in District 1-3A.

Tulia (17-12-2, 6-4 district) will be the No. 3-seed.

Jaycee Ornales went 2-for-3 against Tulia with two homers and four RBIs to lead the way for the Lady Falcons.

In the districts other games, River Road beat Canadian 15-1 and Dalhart downed Dimmitt 10-4.
