Taylor Wiseman, Childress track and field, Jr.

On the track: Wiseman continued her dominant season racking up two more gold medals at the District 1-3A/ 2-3A track and field meet last Friday at West Texas A&M.

The Texas Panhandle’s top thrower uncorked a gold medal throw of 153-feet-8 inches to easily win the discus event. She then claimed her second gold medal of the morning with a toss of 44-8 to claim a victory in the shot put.

Wiseman, a junior, is the defending UIL Class 3A state champion in the discus event and won a silver in the shot-put last year.

Head coach Kolby Poole: “Taylor works harder than anyone else I’ve ever seen. She never seems to be satisfied and she is always trying to perfect her craft to get better. What I love about her the most is, she takes the time to coach up some of younger athletes and has really shown that leadership it takes to be a great teammate. That’s something that makes her special as well. She expects a lot from herself, and she has more to prove and I think we’ll see that from her soon.”

Wiseman: “I think my season has gone well but I need to keep getting better and never be happy with where I’m at. I think right now I’m on the brink of being really good, so I just want to keep taking those steps. My goal going into regionals is to get back to state and throw over 160 in the discus and over 45 in the shot put.”
