Against the Rangers, Haffner went 2-for-3 including a homer finishing the game with three RBIs. He then followed that effort with a perfect 3-for-3 outing against the Bulldogs with another home run and a double scoring two times. On the mound, Haffner handcuffed Borger during a complete game effort throwing seven shutout innings, scattering three hits while racking up 11 strikeouts.

On the season, the senior is hitting .423 with five triples, three doubles and a pair of home runs. He’s also thrown 27.2 innings piling up 32 K’s with a 3.28 ERA.

Head coach Brad Propst: “I knew he had a good week last week, but I didn’t realize how good until I went back and looked at his numbers. He was phenomenal for us on the mound and at the plate. What I love about Carson is that he’s a quiet worker and just goes out and does his business. He’s mentally better and he’s not trying to go out and make every play. He’s matured and he’s understanding on how to rely on his team. He’s a leader and just continues to get better.”

Haffner: “Last week was really special to see to watch us come together as a team. We’ve had a turning point since non-district and we’re playing more as a team and starting to hit our stride. For me, it’s more about confidence. We lost a lot of great seniors and I put a lot of pressure on myself early on, but now I’m learning to trust my teammates. I think also it’s about putting in the work in practice and then seeing the young guys come together. We have a chance to do something special.”
