District 1-3A

River Road holds off Tulia 

An Angi Rivas two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth was the difference giving River Road its first district win as the Lady Wildcats earned a 4-2 win at home against Tuila on Saturday afternoon.

River Road had taken a 2-0 lead through the first three innings. Tulia was able to chip away tying the game with a two-run top of the sixth.

But in the bottom of the sixth, with Carolyn Koval on base, Rivas took a Kyla Rodriguez pitch and drove to right field over the fence for the dramatic two-run eventual game-winning homer.

That was Rivas’ only hit of the day but it couldn’t have come at a bigger time. Koval was 2-for-3 adding a solo homer. Koval also started in the circle tossing four innings without allowing a hit or a run with six strikeouts.

Ava Sharp tossed the last three innings getting six strikeouts and the win.

River Road is now 13-7 overall and 1-1 in District 1-3A. Tulia slips to 1-1 in district and 12-9-2 overall.

Bushland blasts Dalhart

The Bushland Lady Falcons are proving to be no match in District 1-3A after another lopsided victory on Saturday.

Bushland ran right over Dalhart 30-2 and have now scored 60 runs in just two district games.

Once again the big bats were out in full force for the Lady Falcons. Abby Howell, Chayney Snelson, Charley Spinks, Farryn McKown, Jayce Ornelas and Kylee Jordan all went deep.

Jordan ended with a banner afternoon as the second baseman ate up Lady Wolves pitching going 4-for-4 with that home run and drove in a career-best eight RBIs.

Howell hit for the cycle on a 5-for-5 day totaling five RBIs, finishing with two doubles, a triple along with her home run.

Bushland runs its overall record to 16-4-1 while moving to 2-0 in District 1-3A. Dalhart (8-8-1) is now 1-1 in the league.

In the other 1-3A matchup on Saturday, Canadian downed Dimmitt 16-9.

District 4-4A

Dumas, Pampa, Randall, West Plains roll to big wins 

As dramatic and upside down as last weekend was in District 4-4A, this weekend was quite the opposite.

Dumas, Pampa, Randall and West Plains all cruised to extremely lopsided wins while the Lady Harvesters have managed to find first place through the first six games.

Pampa defended its home turf with a 15-6 win over Canyon on Friday in a district showdown.

Carsyn Hunt was clutch in the win going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBIs.

Pampa improves to a 5-1 to have the outright lead in the district. The Lady Eagles drop to 11-11 overall and 2-3.

Randall beat up Hereford 22-0 on Friday. The Lady Raiders are 3-2 in district and 13-13 overall. Hereford, which started 3-0 in 4-4A, has now dropped three in a row falling to 3-3 in the league.

Kaley Wiseman had a total of six RBIs for the Lady Raiders on a 3-for-3 afternoon at the dish that saw a homer and a double.

Dumas blanked Borger 16-0 to stay a game behind Pampa in the 4-4A race. The Demonettes (18-6) are now 4-2 in district. Borger drops to 2-4 in the league and 10-15 overall.

In the win against the Lady Bulldogs, Katie Contreras went 4-for-5 for the Demonettes with two doubles, a triple to finish with a a pair of RBIs.

West Plains is keeping its name in the mix. The Lady Wolves blasted Perryton 18-0 on Friday.

West Plains (9-14-2) is also 4-2 in District 4-4A just a game back of Pampa. Perryton’s struggles continue falling to 3-14 overall and 0-6.

Jaylen Kaps had another superb outing in the circle tossing five innings allowing four hits but did rack up 12 strikeouts.

District 3-5A

Caprock, Tascosa win 

Caprock has put together back-to-back wins after blanking Plainview 8-0 on Friday afternoon.

Grace Morales handcuffed Lady Bulldog hitters in a complete game effort. Morales scattered two hits without allowing a run with seven strikeouts. Morales helped her own cause at the plate with a solo homer.

Caprock improves to 2-1 in district and 8-8 overall. Plainview falls to 0-2 in district and 3-8 overall.

Tascosa got its first district win by dismantling Palo Duro 31-4 on Friday.

The Lady Rebels (8-16) are now 1-2 in the league while the Lady Dons (3-8) are 0-2.

Kassidy Langeland had a day to remember going 6-for-6 that included two triples and tallied six RBIs.

District 1-2A

Gruver, Clarendon, Fritch all win 

Sanford-Fritch continues to roll in District 1-2A as the Lady Eagles blasted Claude 15-0 on Friday.

The Lady Eagles stay atop the district standings at 4-0 and 13-5 overall. Claude falls to 6-14 overall and 1-3 in district.

Kaylnn Roberts was 4-for-5 in the victory for Fritch with a double and three RBIs.

In the other two district games, Clarendon went on the road and beat Booker 16-1, and Gruver edged West Texas High 6-5.
