District 4-4A softball roundup: Dumas downs West Plains, Pampa rallies past Randall

Dumas dominates West Plains 

The Dumas Demonettes remained perfect in District 4-4A play after getting an 18-0 home shutout over West Plains on Friday afternoon.

Dumas pitcher Star Cortes did her job pitching four strong scoreless innings racking up eight strikeouts to earn the victory. Cortes was backed up by multiple players provide a boost at the plate. Briana Vargas was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs. Teammate Melaney Granados had a 2-run homer, and Cami Velasquez was a perfect 3-for-3 including a homer and three RBIs.

The Demonettes are now an impressive 17-3 overall and 2-0 in district. The Lady Wolves fall to 9-10-1, 0-2.

Pampa rallies past Randall 

A two-run sixth inning lifted the Pampa Lady Harvesters to an exciting 3-2 home win against Randall in a key District 4-4A matchup on Friday.

Randall held a 2-1 leading heading into the top of the sixth before the Lady Harvesters made a comeback. After Kynleigh Kirby earned a leadoff walk, Hallie Hawthorne came up clutch with a triple that scored Kirby tying the game, 2-2. Moments later, Cambree Dyer singled home Hawthorne that for the eventual game-winning run. Kirby was able to make the lead stand in the circle tossing all seven innings giving up seven hits, two earned runs with six strikeouts to get the W.

Pampa stays a perfect 2-0 in district and 10-2 overall. Randall drops to 13-9, 1-1.

Borger finds win column 

It was a strong afternoon for Borger as the Lady Bulldogs picked up their first district win on the year downing Hereford 7-2 at home on Friday afternoon.

Borger moves to 1-1 in District 4-4A and 9-11-1 overall. Hereford is now 9-9, 1-1.

The Lady Bulldogs broke the game open in the bottom of the fourth by putting up four runs to take a commanding 6-0 lead. Brooklyn Castagnetta was superb at the dish going 2-for-3 including two doubles totaling three RBIs. Borger pitcher Natalie Chisum earned the victory throwing a complete game allowing six hits, two earned runs with nine K’s.

Canyon soars past Perryton 

The Canyon Lady Eagles won their first district game of the season soaring past Perryton with a 24-0 run-rule victory on the road on Friday.

Canyon improves to 1-1 in District 4-4A and 4-13 overall. Perryton falls to 5-7, 0-2.

Pitcher Kylie Knowles handcuffed the Rangerettes in her three innings of work striking out seven without allowing a hit. At the plate, Canyon had 14 different players drive in a run. Kenah Cox delivered a 2-run homer and Maison Guerra, Landry Jay and Chloe Burton all had two RBIs.
