1. Down go the Bucks
Borden County was able to exact some revenge on the No. 2 White Deer Bucks Thursday night as the Coyotes took the game 66-37.
This loss means there are no more undefeated Texas Panhandle varsity Class 1A teams still standing. As stated last week for McLean, one loss does not define a season. The Bucks will come back strong and make a run at December.
2. Happy is all smiles
The story remains the same for the Happy Cowboys, who are playing solid football at the midway point of the season.
Led Kristain Wilhite and his 693 yards with his 14 touchdowns this season, the Cowboys are red hot, riding a four-game win streak.
That streak gets put to the test Friday when Happy visits Class 1A Division I defending state champion McLean.

3. Witnessing one of the best
At the halfway point of the season McLean’s Ben Crockett has picked up where he left off last year. The reigning Six-man MVP has rushed for over 750 yards with 28 rushing touchdowns in five games.
Crockett is a rare talent fans don’t see at this level. He’s averaging five touchdowns a game and close to 20 yards a carry.

4. Valley makes a statement
The Valley Patriots proved why they should be mentioned with some of the best names in Six-man. Groom (3-2) is a playoff team with an impressive record, and the Patriots controlled the game from the kickoff. Valley QB Parker Carson is a top talent and was the difference totaling five touchdowns in the win.
5. Wildorado continues strong effort
In only their second season of playing Six-man football, the Wildorado Mustangs have had some serious success. With a 57-8 blowout of the Kress JV, the Mustangs are now 4-0 on the season..
6. What’s to come
Over the next six weeks of the regular season one of the biggest storylines will come from Class 1A Division I District I. In Six-man, there’s only two playoff spots, and this district has three of the best teams in the area. White Deer and reigning champ McLean are the obvious favorites, but Valley will have a say in how everything plays out.
Happy has been a great success story, but it has to continue to play steady football in District 2-1A if they want to make it back to the playoffs after missing out last season.
The Follett Panthers haven’t managed to win a game yet this season. Can they turn their season around to extend their district championship run to eight seasons in a row, or will this be the year Groom Tigers take over as top dog?
