The Dumas Demons opened the highly anticipated 2020 season in impressive fashion with a dominating 48-8 victory against Seminole on Friday night at Demons Stadium.
Dumas, which is coming off a historic 13-1 season that included a run to the Class 4A Division I state quarterfinals, have now won a Texas Panhandle-best 18 straight regular season games dating back to 2018.
The Demons have also won 10 in a row at home and are a remarkable 20-1 at Demons Stadium.
The Dumas offense racked up 524 yards while holding the Indians new spread attack to 228 total yards, forcing two turnovers.
Demons quarterback Spencer Williams was electric going 18-of-28 for 304 yards with four touchdown passes. Williams also rushed for 47 yards and another score.
Juan Romero was Williams favorite target snagging five catches for 123 yards with two TDs.
On the ground, senior Jacob Mares scampered for 105 yards on 13 carries, breaking loose on a 19-yard score for the games opening touchdown.
Dumas (1-0) travels to Lubbock for a showdown with Estacado at 7 p.m. Friday. Seminole (0-1) will try and rebound at home against Shallowater (1-0) at 7 p.m. Friday.

Harvesters hammer Elk City
Pampa’s fast-paced offense was a lot for Elk City, Okla. to handle, as the Elks were kept off balance during to 49-21 Harvester win Friday night at Harvester Stadium.
Pampa improves to 1-0 with the season-opening victory as Elk City falls to 0-1.
Harvesters senior quarterback Jack Studebaker had an efficient debut replacing last year’s starter Tucker Bridwell.
Studabaker finished his night completing 16-of-24 passes with a pair of touchdowns.
Versatile running back Cornelius Landers carried the ball only six times but did have 49 yards with three scores. He also made a 5-yard receiving TD.
Pampa travels to Dalhart for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

Dalhart-Perryton called at half due to light malfunction
Perryton and Dalhart had to cancel their nondistrict game at halftime due to a power outage on Friday night at Rangers Stadium.
As the two teams were coming out for the second half a transformer blew knocking out power in the stadium. After Xcel tried to restart the lights, a transformer blew again causing a cancellation.
Dalhart led 19-8 at halftime.
The power outage spoiled the head coaching debut of new Rangers football coach and Perryton graduate, Kurt Haberthur.
Hereford holds off Borger
It was a tale of two halves but in the end the Hereford Whitefaces were able to stave off a late rally from Borger to nab a 20-13 win Friday night at Whiteface Stadium.
Hereford was seemingly in control building a 20-0 halftime lead, only to see the Bulldogs pull within a touchdown thanks to a 13-point fourth quarter.
Whiteface running back Bryson Lopez scored the games first two touchdowns, as he finished the night with 92 yards on 18 carries.
Oscar Guerra was efficient at quarterback for the Herd going 11-of-15 for 106 yards.
Borger (0-1) was led by receiver Hunter Wilkinson who made five catches for 70 yards.
Borger will host Friona (1-0) at 7 p.m. Friday. Hereford (1-0) travels to Bushland (0-1) for its first ever meeting with the Falcons.Hereford 20, Borger 13
