Thursday’s top performers

Amarillo High’s Jonathan Mani and Sam Newman each scored to help the Sandies knock off No. 6-ranked Palo Duro, 2-0. Goalie Jake Wetzel was strong in net with eight saves for the Sandies.

Juan Garcia of Randall scored a hat trick during the Raiders 3-0 shutout of Tascosa in the District 3-5A opener. Raiders goalie Austin Contreras made four saves in the shutout.

Amarillo High’s Nicole Gray was unstoppable scoring four goals in a 6-1 route of Palo Duro. Teammate Saizlee Carlton added four assists.

Kealy Juarez of Randall racked up a hat trick in the Lady Raiders rolling of Tascosa, 6-0.
